Green Tech Zero Emission Electric Vehicle Mobility Hub

Launched in 2023, the Green Tech Zero Emission Mobility Hub was created to expand access to clean transportation infrastructure, education, and workforce pathways in Sacramento.
As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow across California, Green Tech’s founder, Simeon Gant, recognized the importance of ensuring that underserved communities have access to both charging infrastructure and opportunities to learn about and participate in the clean mobility transition. The Mobility Hub was designed not only as a charging site, but also as a community-centered space for education, workforce exposure, and public engagement.

The project was developed through collaboration with regional partners including SMUD, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, AURA Planning, NorCal Clean Cities, and members of the Sacramento e-Mobility Collaborative Communities Committee.

Project Timeline
2020
Concept and Planning

After being granted a plot of land in Del Paso Heights by SMUD, Green Tech began developing the concept of a community-based zero -emission mobility hub to combat rising Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The goal was to create infrastructure that could serve both EV drivers and educational programming for local residents.
Partnership Alignment and Site Preparation

Through collaboration with regional partners including Alco Building Solutions, AURA Planning, SMUD, and the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, the project advanced through site planning, feasibility coordination, and infrastructure preparation.
October 2023
Launch

The Green Tech Zero Emission Mobility Hub officially launched in 2023 and began operating as both a public charging location and a site for clean transportation
education and outreach. This also launched the Hub as a Community Carshare site.

Impact
Since its launch, the Green Tech Mobility Hub has demonstrated measurable environmental and community impact. A total of 94.83 MWh of energy has been delivered through more than 4,092 charging sessions. This has resulted in approximately 72,490 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions avoided by charging electric vehicles instead of fueling gasoline vehicles. This reduction is equivalent to planting 1,859 trees and allowing them to grow for ten years.

The hub has also supported workforce and educational programming. To date, 43 students have been trained through Green Tech’s Introduction to Electric Vehicles course, and community members have participated in EV education workshops and demonstrations.

Green Tech has also been able to partner with Clean Cities and Twin Rivers School district to create the EV Ambassador program for high school youth, exposing them to training and workforce opportunities within the field.

Collaborative Stakeholders
The Green Tech Zero Emission Mobility Hub serves as a community-centered model for integrating infrastructure deployment, workforce education, and measurable environmental impact within the transition to clean transportation. The initial scope set out to improve the air quality in an area that is often overlooked through the adoption of electric vehicles and zero emission vehicles. This project will help the overall adoption of zero emission vehicles by way of analyzing transportation behaviors to provide optimal transportation solutions while improving community health.
